Watco Companies – Train Driver RPL Project

Watco employs a diverse and varied range of currently competent Train Drivers with experience driving a myriad of locomotives both in Western Australia, Nationally and Internationally.

In 2014, Watco Management approached CERT to discuss an opportunity to issue its Train Drivers with a nationally recognised Qualification for their skills, a Certificate IV in Train Driving.  This would consolidate the various skill sets of Watco’s diverse workforce into one formal qualification.

Over 18 months CERT visited Watco depots across Western Australia to independently observe and assess Drivers on the job. CERT utilised the latest technology to capture evidence while ensuring minimal disruption to operational requirements. CERT was also able to assist the Drivers to access funded training to reduce costs.
